Kalanchoe peristoe – use in folk medicine

There are about 200 species of Kalanchoe, but is used in medical practice Kalanchoe pinnate. Under natural conditions, Kalanchoe grows in South America and Southeast Asia, where it grows up to 1.5 meters, but it very often can be seen as a houseplant, thanks to medicinal and decorative properties.

For treatment take the ground part of the plant, when the stems reach 40-60 cm and the lower part of the stem becomes thick.

Kalanchoe pinnate has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, stimulating and tonic effect, and most importantly — is a powerful stimulator of tissue regeneration, ie, promotes rapid cleansing and healing of wounds and ulcers.

Kalanchoe malotoksicnam, reduces inflammation. Particularly good results are obtained when the treatment of burns and fractures.

Fresh washed chopped leaves, Kalanchoe juice, tincture Kalanchoe is used in wounds, ulcers, bedsores, trophic ulcers, abscesses, abrasions, panaritiums, erysipelas, osteomyelitis, fractures of the skin and nipples of the Breasts of nursing mothers, cervical erosion, inflammation “of the middle ear.

In addition to the juice and tincture, Kalanchoe is used in the form of lotions, drops, tampons, ointments.

For burns the juice Kalanchoe smachiwausa beaten egg whites and apply to the affected skin surface.

Trophic ulcers are treated thus: the gauze in 4-5 layers, wet Kalanchoe juice and apply on the affected area. When burning to the juice added solution of procaine (1%)- 0.5 ml.

When inflammation of the oral mucosa, gum disease, throat make a gargle with an alcohol tincture with boiled water or decoction of appropriate herbs.

Kalanchoe juice treat tuberculosis, drink 2 times a day, 1/2 teaspoon after meals, diluted with water 1:3.

Kalanchoe juice is instilled into eyes, ears in inflammatory processes in the nose during rhinitis, sinusitis. The juice is taken orally to 1 teaspoon in inflammatory processes in the stomach, kidneys. Cough juice can be drunk with honey.

Alcohol tincture Kalanchoe . the plant is grind and pour vodka or diluted alcohol 40% (1:10), infuse 10 days, strain.

For varicose veins use concentrated tincture Kalanchoe. The crushed leaves of Kalanchoe fill up half a jar or bottle and fill to top with vodka. To insist in a dark place 1 week, shaking every day. Then the infusion and use for rubbing the legs (from feet to the knees). Store the tincture in the fridge.

Juice Kalanchoe, cooking, conservation . cut the plant is kept 7 days in the dark at a temperature of 5-8°C. Then washed with water, dried at room temperature, crushed and squeeze the juice.

Defend in the refrigerator, at a temperature of 4-8°C, filtered and poured alcohol 96%, 1:5, i.e., bringing to about 20% strength. Store at temperature not above 10°C.

Kalanchoe ointment . 0.25 Cup of Kalanchoe juice, 0.5 Cup olive, melted butter or duck fat to warm in a water bath for 30 minutes; or 0.25 Cup of Kalanchoe juice, 1 tablespoon of poplar buds, St. John’s wort, infused with 100 g of olive oil, mix, apply on the affected surface.

Kalanchoe pinnate, contraindications . you cannot use Kalanchoe and preparations thereof during pregnancy, decompensated diabetes mellitus, rheumatism, Whipple’s disease, liver disease (especially cirrhosis and hepatitis of the liver), glomerulonephritis, hypersensitivity.
